Butcher Arrested for selling Beef

For the first time after the state government banned the sale and possession of beef, a butcher was arrested for illegally selling meat on Tuesday.

The police arrested Mohammed Akram Qureshi after the beef was allegedly found hidden under a shed near BDD chawl Worli. He was later released on bail.

Qureshi was arrested was selling meat without the requisite shop licence. The seized meat was been sent to Bombay Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BSPCA) hospital in Parel for testing. It confirmed that the meat was of a cow, bull, an additional section under the Maharashtra Animal Preservation (MAP) Act will be appealed against Qureshi.  The reports arr expected in 8 - 10days.

The butcher was arrested based on the complaint launched by a resident who resides at Parel, Sharad Gupta, said the police. Gupta allegedly found the meat under the shed, confirmed with Qureshi and informed the police.

There should be some strict action taken against all the law breakers.
